Learning to drive with me is a pleasure because I enjoy using my experience in driving to help others and I still get a thrill when each student passes.

P1000726Born in Cheadle Hulme, I have lived in Verwood since 1995. I successfully stood for election to Verwood Town Council in 1997, became Deputy Mayor in 1999 and had the honour of becoming the Town’s Millennium Mayor in 2000. I eventually stood down from the Council after 10 years loyal service to the Town’s people in 2007.

My hobbies are Golf, Motorsport, Chasing DX on the 10 Metre Band and mobile on the 2m VHF & 70cm UHF Bands (G4TMF), Reading and as my wife puts it, Playing on my Computer; which is really updating data and fine tuning my website which I designed and published.

Sixteen years ago I trained and qualified to be a Registered Approved Driving Instructor after leaving the Insurance industry and I have a proven track record with a higher than average pass rate.

I teach lessons in an Hybrid/Automatic air conditioned dual controlled car and offer a door to door service from your home, school/college or workplace from Monday to Friday and the occasional Saturday should it be necessary. Tuition charges reflect the quality of tuition received and I offer block-booking discounts. You can also purchase Gift Vouchers for Christmas, Birthday presents etc.

I am patient and understanding, have over 45 years driving experience and welcome those who may be a little (or very) nervous.  I have taught people of all ages and all abilities, 17 - 75. I am a Dorset Police Driving Instructor assessing their Clients who have opted for an Educational Awareness Course instead of facing prosecution.

It doesn't matter whether you are a beginner or just want a few hours of refresher lessons. For newly qualified drivers in the 17-24 age group I strongly recommend the Pass Plus Course.  I am a Registered Pass Plus Instructor and can offer this course.

I offer theoretical as well as practical training for learners and supply training/study material free of charge.

December 2016

Finally, those nice people at NICE decided to fund IBRUTINIB, a drug that will supress my Leukaemia for the rest of my life. The effects have been almost instataneous and I am back to full health and shape.

June 2016

My faithfull Peugeot 308 Auto was traded in for a Toyota Auris Hybrid. It's a car that ALL my students have taken to without exception and it is a joy to drive. AND Quiet too!!!

May 2016

Due to ill health and the attitude of management I had to tender my resignation from
Drain-less Valley.

However, I applied to and was accepted as a Member of Rushmore Golf Club on the Rushmore Estate, Tollard Royal. The Management, Club Shop & Club House staff are fantastic and along with the Members, this is a club I will be spending the rest of my playing days at.

If you are a golfer like myself and not played Rushmore GC please join me for a drive of a different kind!

January 2016

At the Crane Valley GC AGM I became the Club Captain. An Office I will serve to the best of my ability. Here's to a great year.

January 2015

At the Crane Valley GC AGM I became the Vice Captain to our Captain Geoff O'Neil. An Office I will serve to the best of my ability. Here's to a great year Geoff.

October 2014

I had the honour of giving away my Step-Daughter to Matt Peers at their wedding in Westbury Parish Church on a glorious Autmn Sunday. One of the very proud moments in my life.

September 2014

I was invited and accepted to be the Vice Captain to next year's Captain Geoff O'Neil. He's hinted on a couple of occasions that he would like me to consider it but not until he asked outright and I saw the announcement posted on the notice board at Crane Valley GC did it sink in.

Thank you for the honour Geoff and I look forward to supporting and working alongside you in 2015.

May 2014

Next to Driving, golf is my other passion and I’m hoping for a drier Summer in 2014 than the start. (I got my wish!!)

17th January 2014

Got knocked out of the Phoenix Trophy but there is always 2014/15 to look forward to.

Taking the last few manual Students through to their test before the end of March when the lease finishes on my manual DS3. Then it will be Automatic Tuition from then on unless a client wishes me to teach them in their own manual car.

16th October 2013

Well, I got my wish; this year’s Summer was lovely along with my golf and driving test results. Congratulations to all who successfully gained their full entitlement.

I had some highs & lows during the season but look forward to a mild Winter to contest the Phoenix Trophy this year.

January 3013

Loosely connected with Driving (of the Golfing category) at the 2013 AGM I was voted onto the Committee of Crane Valley Golf Club and hold the position of Handicap Secretary.
